Who wrote Abhigyanshakuntalam

Abhigyanshakuntalam was written by the greatest Indian sanskrit dramatist Kalidas. Kalidas was a courtier of gupt ruler  Chandragupt Vikramaditya. This play was first translated into english by Sir William Jones in 1789 who was a civil servant in East India Company. The translation of this play into english created a great sensation in the western world. This book has been translated into several languages of the world.

Abhigyanshakuntalam is a drama in sanskrit with Dushyant,Shakuntala,Anusuya and Priyamvada as some major characters of this play. The play is a love story of Dushyant and Shakuntala.
